Profile


Bengali Workers Association (BWA) has been working for the welfare of the Bangladeshi Community since 1976. The aims are:

a) To empower British Bangladeshi people through community initiatives and raise awareness through education and training.

b) To strengthen the social fabric of the Bengali Community and encourage self-help.

c) To continue to grow successfully through providing specialised services to communities whose needs are not currently being met adequately in Camden.

Current activities include:

-Advice, Information & Guidance service:
Welfare Rights, Housing, Consumer issues,
debt, education matters etc.

-Women Development Project; Designed to
help develop self advocacy skills, improve basic skills, increase self reliance,
confidence building, language classes,
cooking sessions, sewing classes, health
sessions exercise etc.

-Young Men’s Project: Engage Bangladeshi
Young Men aged 18 – 30 years in a positive framework to raise their aspirations in
terms of employment, education, and
training.

-Bangladeshi Older People’s project:
Designed to reduce isolation of
the senior citizens and engage older
people in a positive framework.

-Youth Project: Offers activities for
young people aged 11-25 years

-UK Online project

-Luncheon Club

-Cultural events and leisure based
activities.

-Interpreting services (occasionally).
