The Camden Black and Ethnic Minority Alliance is committed to the development of positive policies to promote equal opportunities in its employment and service delivery practices regardless of colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion, disability, sex, marital status, age or sexuality.

The Alliance seeks to comply with the letter and spirit of legislation, in particular, The Disability Discrimination Act (1995), The Race Relations Amendment) Act (2000), The Sex Discrimination Act (1975) and the forthcoming legislation to tackle discrimination based on Religion and Sexuality.

The Camden Black and Minority Ethnic Alliance recognises that groups and individuals have been, and continue to be, discriminated against on a number of levels.

The Alliance's primary function is to challenge institutional racism and its effect on the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities who either live, work or visit the borough. Operating in a multi-cultural borough made up of people with a range of multi-faceted social identities, the Alliance is concerned to take positive action against discrimination and to help redress the inequalities it causes.
